Dosage/Direction for Use
Esomeprazole (NEXIUM) 24HR-may be administered via intramuscular or intravenous route depending on the individual patient needs. The recommended dose is 20 mg. The starting dose is 1 capsule, then 20 to 40 mg, after which the dose is increased by 40 mg. The dose should be reduced gradually. If needed, the patient should be started on the lower dose (10 to 20 mg). If the dose is increased to a maximum of 80 mg, the patient should be started on the higher dose (100 to 1000 mg). The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day.
Adults and ChildrenThe recommended dosing is once per day (20 mg), usually given as a 2-week trial. If the patient starts on the lower dose (20 mg), the dose should be decreased to 80 mg. The maximum recommended frequency is once per day.
